Dr. Aline Charabaty is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the Medical Director of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the Clinical Director of the IBD Center at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine at Sibley Memorial Hospital, Washington DC. She is a strong advocate for improved education and access to quality IBD care through her work with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation’s National Scientific Advisory Committees (educations committees and diversity committee) and as the Deputy Editor of the Crohn’s and Colitis 360 online journal. She is the founder of @MondayNightIBD, a twitter forum that brings clinicians and patients together to discuss IBD topics, and for which she received the 2019 Healio Gastroenterology Disruptive Innovator Award. She currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Research Foundation of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), and is the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) Governor of Washington DC. She is also a member of the ACG Legislative and Public Policy Council and represents the ACG at the Digestive Disease National Coalition. She is the co-founder of the Scrubs & Heels Foundation, with a mission to empower women in GI with the leadership skills and the effective networking and mentor-sponsorship to advance their career.
